SCFM to m3/hr Calculator

What is SCFM

SCFM (Standard Cubic Feet per Minute) is a unit of measurement used to express the flow rate of a gas under standard conditions of temperature and pressure.

It represents the volume of gas, in cubic feet, that passes through a pipeline or other opening in one minute when the gas is at standard conditions, which are typically defined as 20°C (68°F) and 1 atmosphere of pressure.

SCFM is commonly used in engineering and industrial applications to assess the performance of compressors, heating and cooling systems, gas flow systems, and pneumatic tools, among others.

When selecting equipment or designing systems that involve gas flow, it is important to consider the SCFM requirement to ensure that the equipment or system can handle the desired flow rate effectively.

Note that SCFM is a flow rate measurement and should not be confused with other units of volume or capacity.

How to Estimate CFM and m³/hr

To calculate the CFM (Cubic Feet per Minute) and m³/hr (Cubic Meters per Hour), you need to know the SCFM, actual temperature, actual pressure, barometric pressure, and relative humidity. The formulas are:

CFM = SCFM × \(\frac{P_s - (RH_s \times P_{vs})}{P_b - (RH_a \times P_{va})} \times \frac{T_a}{T_s} \times \frac{P_b}{P_a}\)

m³/hr = CFM × 1.69901082

Use the form above to input the values, and the calculator will provide the required CFM and m³/hr.

Flow Rate Units

The calculator provides results in the following units:

  • CFM (Cubic Feet per Minute): A unit of volumetric flow rate commonly used in the United States.
  • m³/hr (Cubic Meters per Hour): A metric unit of volumetric flow rate, where 1 CFM = 1.69901082 m³/hr.
