CFM Calculator for Fan

How to Calculate CFM of a Fan

To calculate the CFM of a fan, you need to know the output power and the pressure. The formula is:

CFM = (Power in Watts / Pressure in Pascals) × 2123

Use the form above to input the power and pressure, and the calculator will provide the CFM.

Using the Fan CFM Calculator

If you know the pressure generated by a fan and the power it uses, our fan-specific CFM calculator can help you calculate the CFM (Cubic Feet per Minute) value for a given fan.

Note that while power is not directly mentioned here as a fan specification, it is closely related to the fan's size and rotational speed, and is usually included in the electrical specifications. If not listed in the electrical requirements, you can estimate the power demand by measuring the voltage and current when the fan is running.

It has three fields to fill in; but if you can complete all three, you might not need this calculator to get the result.

However, we designed this calculator to estimate the CFM value based on the pressure and power output of the fan.

We have also included a technical section called "Electrical Characteristics" where you can calculate the output power using the fan's efficiency and electrical parameters.

You have just bought a new fan and you want to know its CFM value, but the manufacturer hasn't provided the specification on the packaging.

  1. Find the pressure specification provided by the manufacturer.
  2. If you already know the fan's power specification, skip the next two steps.
  3. Measure the voltage and current values when the fan is running.
  4. Use the "Electrical Characteristics" section to calculate the output power using the fan's voltage, current, and efficiency.
  5. The CFM value should be calculated and displayed in the third field.

This is just one of the many uses we can think of for this calculator. Feel free to use it to obtain any other parameters of the fan that you may have missed.

This means if you know the airflow and pressure, you can calculate the fan's power output or even efficiency (if you know the fan's operating voltage and current) using this calculator. Explore and use the fan calculator according to your needs.
